The Goodwill Good Samaritan of the Week is Area 56, a Johnstown gym that’s holding Memorial Day Murph, a unique fundraiser for Tomorrow’s Hope, a non-profit that provides services for homeless vets. Memorial Day Murph is not for the weak! It’s a very difficult workout that includes 2 1-mile runs, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats, but trainers will be on hand to lead events and to scale down the movements so anyone can participate. The workout was first created and named in memory of a fallen soldier called Murph. The event starts at 9 a.m. Memorial Day, May 26th – it costs $ 25 and that includes an event t-shirt and entry for door prizes.
The Good Samaritan of the Week is made possible through support from Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley. If you know an individual or group who should be recognized for the volunteer service they do, visit our website or call 255-4186.
