Scotty McCreery Supporting Organization Inspired By CT School Shooting

 

Scotty McCreery is helping to honor the victims of the December 2012 Connecticut school shooting.  The country star has been named 12.14 Foundation "National Goodwill Ambassador.  In this role the singer will help create awareness of the 12.14, promote the Foundation's arts programs, and assist in fundraising efforts for.  The Foundation was established to facilitate the building and operating of a performing arts center in Newtown, Connecticut.  The organization's website says the center will serve as a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14th, 2012, and support "many forms of healing and positive change."  More information is available at www.1214foundation.org.

 

Garth Brooks Adds Fourth Ireland Concert

 

Garth Brooks is extending his stay on the Emerald Isle.  An overwhelming demand for tickets is leading the country superstar to add a fourth night to his run of summer shows in Ireland.  He's now slated to perform to capacity crowds at Dublin's Croke Park on July 25th, 26th, and 27th, while tickets go on sale for his newly announced July 28th show this Thursday.

 

The singer's original plans for "The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event" included just two performances.  The strong initial interest in the shows led Garth to add a third concert before tickets went on sale.  And when tickets became available last week all 240-thousand were gone in just 90 minutes, making Brooks the first artist ever to sell out three shows at Croke Park in a single day.  The Ireland shows are serving as Brooks' warm up for his upcoming world tour, which he's expected to launch in the fall.  It will be Garth's first tour in 14 years.

 

Dierks Bentley, OneRepublic Teaming For "CMT Crossroads"

 

Dierks Bentley has a special show on the horizon.  The country star is teaming up with the band OneRepublic for the next installment of "CMT Crossroads."  The series pairs country artists with performers from other musical genres to swap stories and songs and see where their musical influences intersect.  An air date for their "Crossroads" episode hasn't been announced yet, but the show is expected to debut on CMT in March.

 

Bentley will release his next album just before the "Crossroads" episode airs.  His latest studio effort, "Riser," is due on February 25th.  OneRepublic's hits include "Apologize," "Good Life," and "Counting Stars," which is from the group's most recent album, 2013's "Native."

 

Luke Bryan's "Drink A Beer" Creates Special Concert Moment

 

Luke Bryan says his latest hit has created a new bond between him and his audience.  The country star explains that his performance of "Drink A Beer" has become a special moment during his show.

Bryan adds that hearing the crowd sing the song back to him is "the highlight of the night" for him.  Luke and his fans are sharing that special "Drink A Beer" moment as he travels across the country on his "That's My Kind Of Night Tour."  Luke's next show is coming up in Moline, Illinois on Thursday.

 

Taylor Swift Happy To Be Single

 

Taylor Swift is single -- and loving it.  The country-pop superstar is denying the recent romance rumors connecting her with Jared Leto and Ed Sheeran.  And she tells Britain's "Event" magazine that despite what others might think, she's very happy on her own.  Taylor says being unattached is "one of the best things" about her life right now, and she's having "so much more fun" as a single woman.  She admits she loves that her time is her own, explaining that "it's great not to have to worry about calling someone every night."  Swift adds that she's really enjoying just hanging out with her friends and being able to do whatever she wants.

 

Rumors about Swift and Leto began last month following the Golden Globe Awards, when the two were reportedly seen together getting cozy at an after-party.  The rumors about Swift and Sheeran were circulating last year.

 

Eric Paslay's Debut Album Features Old, New Songs

 

Eric Paslay says he thinks every track on his debut album sounds current.  But the country singer admits he actually wrote some of them a long time ago.

 

Paslay adds that newer songs often got the priority, and bumped older ones off the final track list.  But he's not just tossing out those songs.  He says his older tunes deserve to be heard as well, and promises it will happen -- "eventually."  Eric's self-titled album arrived in stores this week.  The disc includes his debut single, "Never Really Wanted" along with his current hit, "Friday Night."

 

LeAnn Rimes Praises Jeff Beck's Work On Her Latest Single

 

LeAnn Rimes says she's thrilled to have Jeff Beck playing guitar on her current single, "Gasoline and Matches."

 

LeAnn says she was also glad to have Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas as her duet partner for the song.  The country star adds that the three of them made "the perfect little trio."  "Gasoline and Matches" is from LeAnn's latest album, "Spitfire."

 

Country Singer Sherry Lynn Releasing 2nd CD Next Month

 

Country newcomer Sherry Lynn says she's "eager to see what 2014 brings."  The singer says 2013 "was huge" for her, and now she's prepping for the release of her second album.  She adds that "the early response to the new music is exciting."  Lynn's upcoming album features her current single, "Girls Will Be Girls" and her hit "What a Day to Shake a Heartache," while Crystal Gayle is featured on the title track.  "A Beautiful Life" will arrive in stores on March 11th.

 

Olivia Newton-John Announces Las Vegas Residency

 

Olivia Newton-John is headed to Vegas.  The singer-actress will be making Sin City her home as she prepares to launch her show "Summer Nights" at the Flamingo Las Vegas.  Olivia describes her show as "a musical journey" through her life, telling NBC's "Today" her concerts will feature music from "Grease" and "Xanadu" along with her country songs, her "favorite oldies," and her "new healing music."  She adds that she loves the venue.  Newton-John will perform at the Flamingo's Donny & Marie Showroom, which she says is "a really lovely, old-style" performance space that's "very intimate."

 

Olivia will launch her "Summer Nights" run on April 8th, and has 45 shows scheduled through August.  Tickets go on sale this Friday.  They range in price from 69 to 139 dollars, while special meet-and-greet packages cost 249 dollars.  A portion of the money from each ticket sold will go to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, which the singer opened in Melbourne, Australia in 2012.

Country Stars Taking Part In Charity Golf Tournament

 

Jake Owen is spending more time on the golf course.  After performing and teeing off at last week's Waste Management Phoenix Open, the country star is taking part in this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Celebrity Challenge.  But Owen isn't the only country star hitting the links.  Clay Walker, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts' Joe Don Rooney are also participating in the event.  The celebrity lineup also includes "Nashville" star Eric Close, Kid Rock, Tom Brady, Andy Garcia, Ray Romano, Kenny G, and others  The event raises money for a variety of charities in Northern California that support a range of causes including art, education, children, and the environment.  The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am runs through Sunday.  The Celebrity Challenge is scheduled for Wednesday.
