DEATH-ROW INMATE ANDRE STATON WAS SCHEDULED FOR A PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY, BUT IT WAS POSTPONED BECAUSE HE DOESN’T HAVE AN ATTORNEY.  IN MAY, STATON SLAMMED CAMBRIA COUNTY ATTORNEY TIM BURNS IN THE FACE DURING A HEARING AT THE BLAIR COUNTY COURTHOUSE.

BURNS SUFFERED A CONCUSSION…AND LATE LAST MONTH, HE HAD A HEART ATTACK DUE TO A PRE-EXISTING HEART CONDITION. HE THINKS IT WAS WORSENED BY THE STRESS HE’S BEEN UNDER SINCE THE INCIDENT. AS FOR STATON, THE CHARGES OF ASSAULT BY A PRISONER AND ASSAULT BY A LIFE PRISONER CARRY LIFE SENTENCES. HE’S ALREADY FACING THE DEATH PENALTY FOR THE 2004 STABBING DEATH OF AN ALTOONA WOMAN.
