THE FIRST DAY OF THIS YEAR’S “THUNDER IN THE VALLEY” IN JOHNSTOWN IS NOW UNDERWAY … AND THE WEATHER IS PERFECT FOR THE EVENT.  AS MANY AS 200-THOUSAND MOTORCYCLISTS ARE EXPECTED TO FLOOD INTO THE REGION FOR THE FOUR DAY EVENT.   MANY EVENTS ARE PLANNED DOWNTOWN AND THROUGHOUT THE AREA, PLUS LOTS OF MUSIC AND FESTIVAL FOOD.  LAST YEAR THERE WERE NO FATALITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE EVENT AND ORGANIZERS AND PENNDOT ARE ONCE AGAIN ASKING MOTORCYCLISTS AND ALL DRIVERS TO BE CAREFUL.

IN ALTOONA … A WOMAN IN HER MID-40S….DIED IN A BIZARRE ACCIDENT AT THE INTERSECTION OF 7TH STREET AND UNION AVENUE AT ABOUT 6 LAST NIGHT.  ANN MARIE KRUTCHER WAS JUST GETTING OFF A BUS WHEN TWO CARS COLLIDED RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER AND SHE WAS STRUCK.  NO CHARGES HAVE YET AGAINST EITHER DRIVER IN THE CASE.  A MAN IN ONE OF THE CARS WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL, BUT HE WAS NOT SERIOUSLY HURT.

A FAYETTE COUNTY WOMAN IS BEING HELD ON 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL AFTER RUNNING DOWN A WOMAN CONNECTED TO HER EX-BOYFRIEND.  POLICE SAY DANIELLE FALCON BECAME ANGRY WHEN SHE CAUGHT HER EX IN A LIE AND SPOTTED HIM WITH THE OTHER WOMAN.  THAT’S WHEN SHE ALLEGEDLY HIT THE GAS BUT QUICKLY BECAME REMORSEFUL AND OFFERED AID TO THE VICTIM.

IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY, THREE MEN HAVE BEEN CHARGED AFTER AN EARLY MORNING HOME INVASION IN SANDY TOWNSHIP ON JUNE 17TH.  ERIC BRITTON OF FALLS CREEK, AUSTIN EHEART OF VIRGINIA AND JEFFREY SPRAGUE OF VERONA.  POLICE CHARGED THEM WITH BREAKING INTO A HOME, THREATENING THE TWO 72-YEAR OLD PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE, AND THEN FLEEING THE SCENE.  THE THREE WERE QUICKLY APPREHENDED.

THE OWNER OF A NOW-DEFUNCT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IS ACCUSED OF STEALING FROM THE COMMUNITY OF JEANNETTE.  TIMOTHY BONGIORNI [BON-JORE-KNEE] ALLEGEDLY ACCEPTED A 65-THOUSAND DOLLAR STATE GRANT IN 2007 BUT NEVER BUILT THE REC CENTER HE WAS HIRED TO CONSTRUCT.  THE 47-YEAR-OLD SAID HE USED THE MONEY TO PAY EXPENSES AT HIS QUALITY SHEET METAL ERECTION BUSINESS IN AVELLA.  HE IS FREE ON 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS BAIL.

IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT YESTERDAY, THE INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER TRIAL BEGAN FOR 52 YEAR OLD RANDY FOOR OF BEDFORD.  AFTER A LONG PRIVATE DISCUSSION, THE JUDGE DECIDED THAT LAWYERS COULD USE THE TERM “THE ELAINE PUSH” DURING THE TRIAL.  IN THE SEINFELD TV SHOW, THE CHARACTER OF ELAINE QUITE OFTEN PUSHED HER FRIENDS ON THE CHEST … WHICH IS HOW FOOR CLAIMS HE PUSHED HIS BEST FRIEND DENNIS SPRIGG OF MANNS CHOICE DURING A PARTY LAST AUGUST.   BOTH MEN HAD BEEN DRINKING HEAVILY AND SPRIGG FELL AND HIT HIS HEAD. HE DIED 7 WEEKS LATER.  TESTIMONY SHOULD WRAP UP THIS AFTERNOON.
