IN INDIANA COUNTY, OPENING ARGUMENTS ARE SCHEDULED TODAY IN THE TRIPLE MURDER TRIAL OF A CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP MAN.  KEVIN MURPHY IS ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS MOTHER, SISTER, AND AUNT FOUR YEARS AGO.  THE THREE WOMEN WERE FOUND SHOT TO DEATH EXECUTION-STYLE APRIL 23RD 2009 INSIDE THE FAMILY'S GLASS SHOP IN LOYALHANNA TOWNSHIP.  A CELLMATE IS EXPECTED TO TESTIFY FOR THE PROSECUTION.

IN BEDFORD COUNTY … A MAN FROM HYNDMAN IS FACING DUI CHARGES AFTER A POLICE CHASE.  POLICE TRIED TO STOP ROGER LOGSDON ON ROUTE 56 IN BEDFORD COUNTY, BUT HE FLED HIS CAR WHILE IT WAS STILL IN GEAR AND RAN AWAY.  THE CAR DRIFTED BACKWARDS AND HIT THE POLICE CRUISER. HE WAS CAUGHT AND IS IN THE BEDFORD COUNTY JAIL.

ABOUT 500 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING IN CHEST TOWNSHIP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY, WHEN SOMEONE TRIED TO BREAK INTO THE BUILDING OVER THE WEEKEND.  THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET INSIDE, AND JUDGING BY THE BLOOD ON THE DOORS … THEY CUT THEMSELVES WHILE TRYING.

THE SOMERSET RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE IS USING MORE THAN HALF THE FEDERAL RELIEF MONEY ALLOCATED TO THE COUNTY IN THE AFTERMATH OF SUPERSTORM SANDY.  THE COUNTY WAS AWARDED SOME 118-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN RELIEF FUNDS.  MORE THAN 13-THOUSAND HOMES WENT DARK FOLLOWING THE OCTOBER STORM.  POWER LINES AND UTILITY POLES TOOK A HUGE HIT, REQUIRING REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT.

STATE POLICE IN CAMBRIA COUNTY ARE INVESTIGATING AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING AN AUTOMOBILE AND AN ATV, WHICH HAPPENED JUST AFTER 6 SATURDAY EVENING NEAR THE 700 BLOCK OF 5TH STREET IN CRESSON.  BOTH OPERATORS WERE TAKEN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM.  THEIR NAMES AND CONDITIONS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED.

34 YEAR OLD RYAN TERMIN OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA IS JAILED ON DRUG CHARGES AND HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SET FOR TODAY.   THE CAMBRIA COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE AND CARROLLTOWN POLICE SAY TERMIN SOLD 10 BAGS OF HEROIN LABELED AS “STARBUCKS” TO A CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT.   BAIL IS SET AT 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

A CENTRE COUNTY MAN WAS KILLED IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT SUNDAY AFTERNOON NEAR MILESBURG.  STATE POLICE SAY 27 YEAR OLD TRAVIS TUMBLESON OF MOSHANNON WAS RIDING HIS BIKE ON ROUTE 220 APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION OF EAGLE VALLEY ROAD.  ANOTHER CAR WAS ATTEMPTING A LEFT-HAND TURN AND PULLED IN FRONT OF HIS MOTORCYCLE.  TUMBLESON WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET.  THE OTHER DRIVER, 76 YEAR OLD DAVID RODKEY OF BELLEFONTE, WAS NOT INJURED.  4 PEOPLE WERE LEFT HOMELESS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING WHEN FIRE DESTROYED THEIR HOUSE AT 14-19 WALTON AVENUE.  ONE MEMBER OF CHRISTOPHER HOLLAND’S FAMILY WAS HOME AT THE TIME AND WAS TREATED FOR SMOKE INHALATION.  THE FLAMES ALSO DAMAGED ANOTHER BUILDING NEXT DOOR.  THE CAUSE OF THE BLAZE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
