JOHNSTOWN POLICE SAY 27 YEAR OLD LEMMEL MYERS OF JOHNSTOWN IS IN THE CAMBRIA COUNTY JAIL CHARGED WITH SHOOTING 37 YEAR OLD LESLIE SCHETROMPF IN THE LEG WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT AN APARTMENT IN THE CITY’S WEST END.  SCHETROMPF…WHO REMAINS HOSPITALIZED IN SERIOUS CONDITION…APPARENTLY OWED MYERS 20 DOLLARS FOR A WEIGHT BENCH.  MYERS WAS WEARING AN ELECTRONIC ANKLE BRACELET AND ON PAROLE FOR A FELONY DRUG CONVICTION.   INSIDE THE APARTMENT COMPLEX, POLICE FOUND A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF HEROIN, AMMUNITION, SOME MONEY AND AN ADDITIONAL FIREARM.

ROCKVIEW STATE PRISON NEAR STATE COLLEGE IS ON LOCKDOWN AFTER A MEMBER OF THE STAFF WAS ASSAULTED BY AN INMATE THURSDAY MORNING.  THE CONDITION OF THE PERSON WHO WAS HURT HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED.  THE LOCKDOWN IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL SOMETIME TODAY.

IN FAYETTE COUNTY … TWO MEN MAY FACE THE DEATH PENALTY FOR BEATING A CONNELLSVILLE WOMAN TO DEATH AND THEN DUMPING HER BODY IN THE YOUGH (“yawk”)  RIVER.  DURING A HEARING THURSDAY, CRAIG ALLEN RUGG SAID HE AND PAUL BANNASCH HAD BEEN DRINKING HEAVILY WHEN THEY MET 52-YEAR-OLD PEGGY SUE KRIEK LAST MONTH.  RUGG SAID THE BEATING BEGAN WHEN KRIEK SAID SHE NO LONGER WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONVERSATION AND TRIED TO LEAVE.

IN CAMBRIA COUNTY … A COAL TRUCK REAR-ENDED A BOX TRUCK ON ROUTE 219 NEAR THE MCNALLY BRIDGE.  IT’S NOT KNOWN WHY THE INCIDENT HAPPENED.  BOTH VEHICLES WERE HEADED NORTH AND THE CRASH SENT BOTH VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD AND INTO SOME TREES.  THREE PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.  AN INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING.

STATE POLICE SAY THREE RIFLES HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM A HOME IN LOWER TURKEYFOOT TOWNSHIP IN SOMERSET COUNTY.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS URGED TO CALL POLICE.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY WILLIAM SHAW SAYS STATE POLICE HAVE AN ARREST WARRANT FOR 50 YEAR OLD CLAIR HOUDESHELL THE SECOND OF OSCEOLA MILLS.   HE  FAILED TO COMPLY WITH STATE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CONVICTED SEX OFFENDERS.  IT IS UNKNOWN WHERE HOUDESHELL IS CURRENTLY LIVING.   ANYONE WITH INFORMATION SHOULD CALL CLEARFIELD COUNTY CRIMESTOPPERS AT 800-376-47-HUNDRED.
