The whole nation is praying for the city of Boston after the horrific bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon. So it was no surprise when several country musicians took to social media after the tragedy to express their condolences and thoughts of prayer for the people who were killed or injured in the attack.

Here are some of the messages country musicians posted after the Boston Marathon bombings:

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill: "Like everyone, we've been watching events unfold in Boston, and our deep thoughts, love, and prayers go out to everyone affected by this heinous act. The courage and compassion of our first responders and bystanders who selflessly jumped in to help inspires us all."

Martina McBride: “It's hard to find words to express the confusion and sadness I feel for what happened in Boston today. I don't understand random acts of violence, or in this case planned acts of violence, and I guess I never will. Boston is one of my favorite cities and my heart is with everyone there. Hugging my family a little closer tonight.....”

Hillary Scott: “Praying for all of those injured and affected by the Boston marathon explosions. Can't believe it. So sad.”

Taylor Swift: "Sending all of my love to Boston after a day of sadness and confusion and not knowing what to say. I just don't understand."

Jason Aldean: "Prayers going out to everyone in Boston. #prayforboston."

Cassadee Pope: “My thoughts are with Boston. One of my favorite cities in the world. Stay strong <3”

Scotty McCreery: “Prayers going out to everyone involved at the Boston Marathon.. #shocking”

The Band Perry: “Boston, sending our thoughts and prayers...”

Lee Brice: “Prayers go out to everyone in Boston right now!”

Willie Nelson: “Our hearts and prayers are being sent to everyone in the Boston area. #Boston”
