When you go on vacation, you might set a few lights on timers. You probably arrange to have the paper delivery stopped and have a neighbor pick up the mail. You might even get a housesitter to take care of the house and the pets. Here's something you might want to add to the list: make sure someone keeps the grass trimmed.
An Ohio woman was away for two weeks and came home to find that a bank had foreclosed on her home. She wasn't affiliated with the bank, and they were supposed to foreclose on the house across the street. But they mistakenly started physical foreclosure on HER home, including changing the locks and removing some of her belongings. She told a local television station that the bank "told me that the GPS led them to my house. My grass hadn’t been mowed and they just assumed.”
Obviously, this is an extreme case. But it won't hurt to keep the lawn mowed!
