A 61-year-old retired language teacher in Ohio is suing her former school for discrimination, claiming she was forced to resign because of her phobia of young kids. Maria C. Waltherr-Willard claims her “pedophobia” causes her to experiences stress, anxiety, chest pains and vomiting whenever she’s in the vicinity of children. She says the school had been understanding in the past, allowing her to teach at a high school level. But things changed in 2009 when the district assigned her to teach Spanish to junior high students. Waltherr-Willard says the change caused her blood pressure to shoot dangerously high and she was forced to resign in 2011.
