Baby talk may sound ridiculous, but research found it actually encourages early vocabulary development in kids. Compared to conversations in which adults spoke to their babies in a normal tone of voice, those conversations in which adults used a higher-pitched, “exaggerated, animated baby talk style” resulted in more baby babbling- which experts say is an early sign of word production. Baby talk was found to be especially effective at encouraging infant speech when conversations were held one-on-one between the adult and the baby. Sounds stimulating.
