It sounds like American parents have their priorities out of whack. Astudy of Google search data revealed that when it comes to boys, parents are more concerned about intelligence, while their main concern about girls is weight. In fact, they’re more than twice as likely to Google “Is my son gifted?” than “Is my daughter gifted?” On the other hand, parents are twice as likely to Google “Is my daughter overweight?” than “Is my son overweight?” Ironically, American girls are more likely to be in gifted programs at school than their male counterparts, while boys are slightly more likely to be overweight than girls. Go figure.
