New research suggests there’s a link between couples’ sleep positions and the strength of their relationships.  The study of more than 1,000 people revealed partners who sleep less than one inch apart are more likely to be happy than those who sleep with more than 30 inches between them. Overall, couples who sleep touching are 94% satisfied in their relationships, compared with couples who sleep without touching at all, who are just 68% satisfied. The happiest couples sleep touching either back to back or both facing the same direction. The least happy couples sleep facing each other and not touching. The research also found individual positions reveal certain personality traits- for instance, people who sleep in the fetal position tend to be anxious and indecisive, people who sleep on their backs are often confident and open, and those who sleep on their fronts are rigid perfectionists.
