On the heels of last night’s State of the Union address, a poll reveals Americans aren’t feeling very optimistic about the future. Almost 70% of respondents said the country is either the same or worse off since President Obama first took office, and more than 80% disapprove of Congress. More people view the president negatively than positively, with nearly 60% feeling “uncertain and wondering” or “pessimistic and worried” about his remaining time in office. But there is some good news for Mr. President- many Americans support the issues he discussed in his speech last night, including preschool education, closing tax loopholes that benefit corporations and increasing the minimum wage. Plus, more than half of people feel keeping the Affordable Care Act is a priority- provided the kinks get worked out.
