Women are less likely to be promoted at work if they’re cheerful and friendly.  On the other hand, characteristics like assertiveness and dominance are rewarded.  In a study, even those women with strong strategizing and negotiating skills were judged as less qualified than male job candidates for managerial positions.  Experts cite age-old gender stereotypes for this bias.  So much for catching more flies with honey than vinegar.
