Coca-Cola is addressing obesity for the first time in one of its ads. The company began airing the commercial yesterday. The two-minute spot acknowledges the link between sugary soft drinks and child and adult obesity rates and will air during the highest-rated shows on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. It mentions Coca-Cola’s record of providing drinks with fewer calories over the years and points out that weight gain is the result of consuming too many calories of any kind - not just soda. Coca-Cola says the campaign will kick off a series of moves that will help address obesity this year, including providing more diet options at soda fountains.
