And you thought kids were obsessed with their phones. A study found many parents are guilty of being distracted by their gadgets when they’re with their children. And it turns out this can really damage their relationships with the kids. Researchers observed parents eating in a restaurant with their children, who were all younger than 10. They found almost 75% used their phones at least once, with one in three using their phones continuously throughout the meal. As a result, the majority of children became restless and acted out as a means of getting attention. Previous research suggests that the parent-child bond suffers from lack of interaction and direct eye contact- a sure bet if those parents are busy reading emails or browsing Facebook.
