A survey of 2,000 workers found that two thirds believe their boss has had some kind of impact on their career, and of those, 20% say that impact has been negative. Unhappy employees often report that their bosses damaged their careers by holding back promotions and raises. On the other hand, about half say their boss’ influence on their career has been positive, by supporting collaborative teamwork and helping them achieve satisfactory work/life balance. Research has shown that employees’ relationships with their bosses significantly influence their job satisfaction. And not only that, but your view of your boss affects your work performance as well.
