A survey found that more adults than teenagers admit to texting behind the wheel. Nearly 50% of adults have sent a text while driving, compared with 43% of teens. But almost 100% of respondents of all ages said they are aware texting while driving is unsafe. Still, the poll suggests the problem is getting worse- many people said they text while driving more often now than they did several years ago, and for 40% of drivers, it’s a habit rather than a once-in-a-while mistake. Here’s a stat that might make you hold (or in this case, drop) the phone: motorists who text behind the wheel are 23 times more likely to get into an accident than those who don’t.
