Walmart is considering a new delivery plan that involves store customers delivering packages to online buyers. The company hopes to gain an edge over by shipping online orders directly from stores to cut transportation costs. Walmart currently uses carriers like FedEx, but they are exploring the possibility of “crowd sourcing.” Joel Anderson, chief executive of, explained that the plan would involve some shoppers telling the retailer where they live and signing up to drop off packages for online customers who live on their route back home.
