Can’t win ‘em all. Biggest Loser champ Rachel Frederickson lost a record 155 pounds on the show. But when the 24-year-old former athlete revealed her new body, responses were more negative than positive. Critics accused Frederickson, who at 5’5 went from 260 to 105 pounds, of looking gaunt, malnourished and simply too skinny. Some medical experts argue that while Frederickson’s results weren’t typical for the show, they’re not necessarily unhealthy. Frederickson dropped 60% of her body weight over about seven months through a combination of a strict, 1600-calories-per-day diet and an intense exercise regimen that included running, spinning and Zumba. Of course, such extreme weight loss is difficult to maintain. And some body image experts have weighed in that Frederickson’s drastic transformation sets unrealistic standards for viewers. But Frederickson says she’s “extremely proud” of her weight loss and is “going to maintain being healthy.”
