Many people are concerned about doing their business in the workplace- and we’re not talking about spreadsheets and expense reports. Women in particular have been known to go to great lengths to avoid going “number two” at work, and, when it’s unavoidable, to keep it well-hidden. Some retreat to other floors so they’re not caught by any of their coworkers. Others lift up their feet so no one in the bathroom recognizes their shoes. Still others use a well-timed courtesy flush to conceal unflattering noises. Experts say many humans experience feelings of shame and embarrassment associated with going to the bathroom. This is especially true for women, thanks to gender stereotypes that make femininity and natural bodily functions mutually exclusive.
