Sure, March Madness can be a distraction, what with brackets, betting pools and games during the workday.  But research suggests the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, which kicked off last night, won’t necessarily make employees drop the ball.  An outplacement firm estimated that this year’s tourney will cost U.S. businesses more than $130 million in lost productivity.  But a survey of managers found that fewer than 10% say March Madness causes a dip in output.  In fact, nearly twice as many said the tournament actually has a positive influence on productivity, and three quarters said it has no effect at all.  Looks like you won’t have to jump through too many hoops to enjoy March Madness this year
