WOMAN’S APRIL FOOL’S JOKE GETS HER ARRESTED
She thought she had pulled off the perfect April Fool’s Day prank, but it turns out the joke was on her! Susan Tinker, a Virginia Waffle House employee, was arrested Monday after she called 911 to report a fake robbery at the restaurant. Police arrived on the scene and spent more than an hour investigating. But while waiting for the manager to get there to review the surveillance tape, Tinker finally admitted that it was all just an April Fool’s joke. Cops obviously didn’t see it as a laughing matter and charged Tinker with lying about a robbery. She was also fired from her Waffle House job. Sounds like she was the real fool!
COUPLE “ABDUCTED” IN NYC WAS JUST A PRANK
And speaking of pranks, police said an apparent abduction of a man and a woman in Manhattan was just a hoax. The “kidnapping” was caught on surveillance footage in Washington Heights and set off a large police response. Witnesses said they saw the couple get ambushed by two men and forced into a van at gunpoint. But on Sunday night, a man called police to report that the abduction was fake and was part of an elaborate plan to throw a surprise birthday party. He told police he and his friends had rented a home in the Poconos for the weekend and were only made aware of the panic they caused when they returned to Manhattan. His version of events was confirmed by his six friends, including the couple who had been the “victims” of the apparent kidnapping. No charges were expected to be filed against any of the people involved.
