SIMON BLAMED FOR BABY MAMA’S DIVORCE
News that Simon Cowell was going to be a dad shocked the public, and apparently it shocked the father-to-be as well. The X Factor producer has knocked up Lauren Silverman, the estranged wife of Cowell’s friend Andrew. “The pregnancy has taken him by surprise. He assumed she was using birth control,” claims a source. “Simon thought this was a casual relationship – friends with benefits. The pregnancy was not planned.” Andrew is said to be so upset over his friend’s betrayal that he is dragging Simon into his divorce proceedings, naming him as a co-respondent in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. This means Simon could be forced to testify in the case, and will probably have to take a DNA test proving he’s the father of Lauren’s unborn child. Andrew cited “adultery” and “cruel and inhuman treatment” as reasons for the divorce. He is seeking sole custody of the couple’s 7-year-old son, and wants a judge to abide by a pre-nup that was signed in 2003. Meanwhile, one insider tells the New York Post that despite reports, Andrew and Lauren “weren’t estranged” when she took up with Simon. Sources close to Simon believe Lauren got pregnant to get her hands on his money. “She’s a total gold-digger,” one pal told The Post. “The pregnancy was by design.” Another insider told the New York Daily News, “She has a thing for rich, powerful men. She knows having Simon’s baby will mean he will always be in her life and he is a very wealthy and generous man.”

AMANDA DOING WELL ON MEDICATION
Amanda Bynes has been in a psych ward for over a week, and apparently she’s doing well. Sources tell TMZ doctors have given the What A Girl Wants star a combination of meds to control what they believe is schizophrenia, and it seems to be working. Insiders say in the last three days she’s stopped talking to herself and insulting people, and has even become polite, saying “please” and “thank you.” A judge yesterday shot down Amanda’s attempt to get her two-week psych hold lifted. TMZ reports the 27-year-old appeared before a judge in the psych ward, and her lawyer argued there is no legal basis to hold her, saying she is perfectly capable of caring for herself. The judge wound up agreeing with doctors who argued that Amanda needed to stay in the hospital to monitor her mental condition.

Meanwhile, Amanda Bynes’ former All That co-star Nick Cannon has penned a letter to the troubled 27-year-old, which he posted online Wednesday. “Lately I have been hit with an onslaught of questions about someone I consider family, someone I watched grow up, and someone I genuinely feel is one of the most pleasant human beings I have had the pleasure of meeting, Amanda Bynes,” Cannon wrote. “Sometimes I would answer in a playful humorous manner and sometimes I would brush it off as another pop culture topic that a reporter was trying to retrieve a sound bite for. But after recent events of Amanda being admitted under psychiatric care and reported as 5150, I see this as no laughing matter.” He ends by writing, “So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for… I’m here! Call me! Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow.”

BRAVO MAY CANCEL REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY
Things were pretty bad for Teresa Giudice this week, but they may be getting even worse. Not only is she facing a 39-count indictment for fraud, sources say she now may lose her TV show. Insiders tell the New York Daily News Bravo is considering cancelling The Real Housewives of New Jersey due to the bad publicity it’s getting from Teresa’s legal troubles. “Nobody wants to see their talent in this kind of situation,” said a network source. Apparently Teresa was trying to get Bravo to green-light a spin-off starring her family, but that was nixed. “They are not interested,” said the insider. “Bravo only spins off happy situations – marriages, baby news. Not prison.”
BETHENNY DOESN’T FEEL SORRY FOR TERESA
Meanwhile, former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel was asked yesterday to chime in on Teresa Giudice’s troubles, and the new talk show host has no sympathy for her. "My first thought today was, 'Oh, if they weren't on reality TV, none of this would probably ever be exposed,’” she told reporters. “And it's just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame. It's almost like -- not that you want to get caught -- but people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet. It's just an interesting thing." She added, “Do I feel sorry for them? No, I don't. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That's not really that smart."
