Fox has confirmed that the date of Glee’s season five premiere has been delayed to September 26th in the wake of star Cory Monteith’s death last week. It was originally set to start on September 19th. The statement from Fox read, “In light of the tragic passing of beloved Glee cast member Cory Monteith, the series' executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company have jointly decided to delay the start of production of Glee until early August.” In several interviews over the weekend, Glee creator Ryan Murphy said that the third episode of season five will be a tribute to Monteith and will deal with the death of Finn Hudson, his character on the show, calling it “the right thing to do.” He went on to say, “When we do the tribute episode to that character, we'll have to do it in a way where the castmembers will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they’ve had this week – but do it in an upbeat way.” The first two episodes of the season, which are already written, will be filmed as planned. Afterwards, writers will take a hiatus to figure out how to proceed with the season. Murphy assured that Lea Michele- Monteith’s girlfriend and cast mate- was consulted on all decisions and that she decided to go ahead with production as planned. FORMER CO-STAR SLAMS OPRAH
In scathing new audio that emerged last week, Oprah Winfrey’s former Color Purple costar Rae Dawn Chong launched an attack on the talk show queen. She called Oprah a self-centered fat “biotch” and even used the N-word against her. Rae Dawn, who’s part black, discussed in a radio interview how her personal relationship with Oprah went down the tubes. She said Oprah was “lovely” to her on the set of Purple in 1985, but when Rae moved on to her next movie, that’s when Oprah turned on her. "She’s so enormously insecure,” Rae said of O. “If you wanna distill Oprah Winfrey down to like her most basic components. She wants to be beautiful." Ouch.
