FOOD NETWORK FIRES DEEN
Paula Deen’s career imploded Friday. After news hit that she had admitted during a deposition to using the N-word in the past, and issuing two written apologies, Deen scheduled an interview with the Today show to explain herself, and then promptly bailed, citing exhaustion. Later that afternoon she issued two ill-conceived video apologies, which didn’t help her case. Late Friday, the Food Network announced that they wouldn’t be renewing Deen’s contract once it expires next month. She released a statement thanking the network for 11 “great years” adding, "Because of the gift the Food Network gave me, I've had the pleasure of being allowed into so many homes across the country." But her TV show may not be the only gig she loses. It was reported Saturday that QVC was questioning whether to continue selling Deen’s housewares line. The network told TMZ they had “concerns [over] the unfortunate Paula Deen situation,” adding "Please know that QVC does not tolerate discriminatory behavior."
OLD DEEN INTERVIEW SURFACES
Meanwhile, if things weren’t bad enough for Paula Deen, over the weekend, video of a New York Times Talk from last year surfaced, in which she discussed how hard it was for her great grandfather to lose his slaves. “Between the death of his son and losing all the workers, he went into his barn and shot himself because he couldn’t deal with those kind of changes,” Paula said. “Back then, black folk were such an integral part of our lives, they were like our family, and for that reason, we didn’t see ourselves as being prejudiced.” She then trotted out an African American employee/friend named Hollis Johnson, saying that he was “as black as this board.” She took his hand and added, “we can’t see you in front of that dark board!” She then said she trusted Johnson with her life, “and color ain’t got nothing to do with it.”
DEEN FANS OUTRAGED
Finally, regardless of the Paula Deen scandal, she still has lots of supporters. According to the New York Times, her Savannah, Georgia restaurant The Lady and Sons was packed on Saturday, with several people saying they planned to boycott the Food Network for dumping the Southern chef. Other supporters flooded the Food Network’s Facebook page with messages, and a “We Support Paula Deen” Facebook page had received more than 160,000 likes after being created on Friday. “You just lost a devoted fan of Food Network,” wrote one woman on Food Network's page. “We love Paula Dean -- use your head -- she messed up in the 80s -- give me a break!” Added another "She apologized and can do nothing further. IF and when you all can go back in time and make your lives perfect, you may be at a point where you can judge others.”
KIM AND BABY NORTH LEAVE THE HOSPITAL!
Kim Kardashian and her newborn baby girl, North, left the hospital Friday after a week’s stay. "The baby is doing great and has been gaining weight just like her doctor was hoping," a source told People. Kardashian, 32, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on June 14th due to complications and went into early labor. The baby was a little premature, and doctors likely wanted to make sure everything was fine before releasing her, hence the longer-than-normal hospital stay. Kim and Kanye West’s baby girl’s name was revealed as North West last Thursday. TMZ got a hold of the birth certificate, which showed that the parents decided to skip a middle name. They will reportedly call her “Nori” for short.
KIM ENJOYING MOTHERHOOD
Sounds like Kim Kardashian is handling motherhood quite well. Sources tell TMZ Kim loves all her motherly duties, including changing diapers and breastfeeding. In fact, sources tell the site that Kim’s breasts have swelled to a G cup and she simply loves nursing daughter North. As for daddy Kanye West, insiders say he too is handling his new duties well. Said a source, “No one has ever seen him like this.”
KANYE DIDN'T PROPOSE
Meanwhile, The Sun claimed Kanye West proposed to Kim Kardashian after she gave birth to daughter North. An insider said they planned to marry in September in Paris, and while Kanye didn’t have an engagement ring when he popped the question, he had already spent $800,000 on a rare black diamond ring as a push present. But don’t go out and buy them a wedding present just yet. A source close to the couple tells Gossip Cop the story is not true.
APPLE CO-FOUNDER HAS MET BABY NORTH
Finally, while not many people have met little North West yet, oddly Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak has. Wozniak revealed on Piers Morgan Live that Kim Kardashian had arranged for him to meet Kanye West as a surprise for the rapper’s 36th birthday. "Just because [Kanye] was interested in technology and companies, she, as a birthday present, she had me come up there to meet him," Wozniak said. As for little Nori, he said, “I have seen a lot of babies, and a baby represents the love between the people, and that meant more to me and the love that Kim was showing to Kanye."

According to a spokesman for the Gandolfinis, The Sopranos actor "died of a heart attack of natural causes" and "nothing else was found in his system." The 51-year-old’s body has been turned over to a funeral director in Italy and was flown back to the U.S. via private jet last night. FOOD NETWORK CHEF MOVES OUT OF HOTEL SUITE WHERE GANDOLFINI DIED
After it was reported that Food Network chef (and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo girlfriend) Sandra Lee was staying in the Italian hotel suite where James Gandolfini died Wednesday, the TV personality promptly made other arrangements. "Sandra Lee has moved out of the hotel room previously occupied by James Gandolfini," her spokesperson told Us. "Sandra is disappointed in the hotel staff and drivers for leaking information about her family vacation and whereabouts as well as the hotels non-disclosure that her room was the location of the sad event that took place around Mr. Gandolfini's final evening. There are few words to accurately describe the loss his family is feeling, but Ms. Lee conveys her deepest sympathy to his loved ones."
BYNES HAS BREAST IMPLANTS REMOVED!
Amanda Bynes admitted to having even more plastic surgery, reportedly telling RadarOnline she recently had her breast implants removed. The 27-year-old actress said she had surgery to boost her bust size back in May, but after finding her implants “uncomfortable” she went under the knife again earlier this month to return to her natural A-cup. A source revealed that Bynes had some post-surgery complications. “A tube got lodged in her breast and Amanda was in pain,” an insider close to Bynes told Radar. “But she is much better now and even told me, ‘They look amazing without the implants!’” Apparently undeterred by the experience, Bynes was set to have another nose job this past Saturday. She’s reportedly waiting until her new nose is complete to start her music career – with the help of rapper Waka Flocka Flame.
SHARAPOVA FIRES BACK AT WILLIAMS
Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams aren’t just opponents on the tennis court. Williams allegedly took a jab at her rival during a Rolling Stone interview saying, “She’s still not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it.” That black heart is Serena’s alleged ex, tennis pro Grigor Dimitrov. Well, on Saturday, during a pre-Wimbledon press conference, Maria shot back, slamming Serena for dating her tennis coach, who is still married. Said Maria, “If she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids.”
JIM CARREY WON’T SUPPORT HIS MOVIE
Jim Carrey stars in the upcoming sequel Kick-Ass 2, but he took to Twitter yesterday to announce that he will not be supporting the film due to its extreme violence. “I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,” he Tweeted Sunday. “My apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.“ Carrey plays a vigilante named Colonel Stars and Stripes in the flick, which opens August 16th. Mark Miller, the writer of the Kick-Ass comics, responded to Jim’s tweet on his blog. “[I'm] baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago,” he wrote. “Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin.” He added, “This is fiction and like Tarantino and Peckinpah, Scorcese [sic] and Eastwood, John Boorman, Oliver Stone and Chan-Wook Park, Kick-Ass avoids the usual bloodless body-count of most big summer pictures and focuses instead of the CONSEQUENCES of violence… Our job as storytellers is to entertain and our toolbox can’t be sabotaged by curtailing the use of guns in an action-movie.”
RUTHERFORD FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY
Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford filed for bankruptcy earlier this month, blaming her financial problems on her child custody battle. According to court documents, Rutherford’s assets total only $23,937, but she owes $2,021,832. And nearly $1.5 million of that money owed is in legal fees from her divorce/custody battle with ex-hubby Daniel Giersch. Rutherford’s reportedly asking family court to make him pay the costs, but in the meantime she’s broke. Adding to the problem; Rutherford’s out of work. She says her monthly income is only $1,279.33, now that Gossip Girl is over.
FAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING TO KILL MIRANDA KERR
A crazed Miranda Kerr fan was arrested in Massachusetts last week after telling cops he planned to fly across the country next month and murder the Victoria’s Secret model with two handguns. Steven C. Swanson of Cape Cod called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department to let them know of his plan, referring to Kerr as his “soulmate” and “wife” during the call. Cape Cod police picked Swanson up at his home after being contacted by officers in Los Angeles. He then told cops he was a federal agent who was going to California to “rescue” Kerr. A doctor who testified at his arraignment Wednesday says Swanson suffers from bipolar disorder and had been off his meds for months. Swanson, who is charged with making a threat with a firearm, is currently undergoing a court ordered psychiatric evaluation.
