Hostess is making no more Twinkies. The company has announced it will close its bakeries, stores and distribution system. Hostess, the maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, cites rising costs, competition and a crippling nationwide labor strike for the closure. There is no buyer available to buy the company whole, but the strongest brands may reappear at other bakeries in the future. In the meantime, the closure of Hostess means the layoff of more than 18,000 workers nationwide and a planned liquidation of the company, pending the approval of a bankruptcy judge. Read more HERE.
