jerry Sandusky’s appeal HEARING IS scheduled today AT 3PM AT THE LUZERNE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN WILKES-BARRE. SANDUSKY’S LAWYERS SAY THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO PREPARE FOR TRIAL AND THEY ALSO THINK THE JUDGE SHOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED HEARSAY TESTIMONY FROM A JANITOR. Sandusky IS SERVING 30 TO 60 YEARS AT THE STATE PRISON NEAR WAYNESBURG. HE Is not expected to ATTEND THE HEARING.

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT THE STATE SUPERIOR COURT HAS UPHELD THE 75 TO 150 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENDER DAVID HELSEL OF ALTOONA. IN 2009, HELSEL GRABBED 2 GIRLS AT AN ALTOONA CEMETERY, THREATENED THEM WITH A KNIFE AND ASSAULTED ONE OF THEM. IN 2011, BLAIR COUNTY JUDGE ELIZABETH DOYLE GAVE HELSEL LIFE IN PRISON UNDER THE 3 STRIKES PROVISION OF MEGAN’S LAW, BUT THE HIGHER COURT SAID THAT WAS IMPROPER BECAUSE IT ONLY COUNTED AS A SECOND STRIKE. THIS TIME, THE HIGH COURT SAID DOYLE DID NOT ABUSE HER DISCRETION AS A JUDGE.

today in huntingdon county, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 21 year old benjamin hoover of west newton who is charged with homicide by vehicle for an april crash in brady township. troopers say hoover was speeding and driving recklessly in the jack’s narrows area when he passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with a car driven by former mapleton mayor oran “butch” woodward who died at the scene. hoover was also hurt and flown to a regional hospital.

A FEDERAL GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED 40 YEAR OLD CORBIN WILL OF GARRETT, Somerset County, for 3 bank robberies. poLICE SAY WILL HAD A WEAPON WHEN HE HELD UP FIRST NATIONAL BANK IN Loganton, Clinton County…M&T Bank in Tyrone…and 1st Summit Bank in Salix…ALL IN MAY OF LAST YEAR. 24-year-old Nichole Durst of Meyersdale ALREADY pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy And is awaiting sentencing. Will is in custody AND FACING bank robbery charges in West Virgina and Maryland.
HE WAS also was charged with robbing 4 banks in Fayette County IN 2000.
the Centre County Alcohol Task Force BUSTED 9 people FOR DRUNK DRIVING FOLLOWING weekend pATROLS. 2 were cited FOR underage drinking and 6 FOR public drunkenness. Police ALSO issued 27 traffic citations and gave 87 warnings.

Triple-A says it's the first time gas prices have reached that milestone, AND Triple-A's president doesn't think prices will ever dip below an average of 3-dollars a gallon again. The current streak began a few days before Christmas in 2010.
