POLLS OPEN UNTIL 8

POLLS OPEN AT 7AM FOR today’S Municipal elections. VOTERS WILL ELECT JUDGES, MAYORS, CITY COUNCILMEN, TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS, AND SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS. Polls are open UNTIL 8pm AND Identification is required for first-time voters or those who have a new precinct. EVERYONE WILL BE ASKED TO SHOW PHOTO ID, BUT IT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED WHILE THE STATE LAW IS UNDER REVIEW.

DETAILS IN FATAL CRASH

Altoona police HAVE RELEASED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CRASH THAT KILLED 29 YEAR OLD HEATHER MOZLEY AND 22 YEAR OLD ZACHARY REED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AT 6TH AVENUE AND 12TH STREET. POLICE SAY MOZLEY WAS definitely SPEEDING AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR toxicology tests TO DETERMINE IF alcohol WAS INVOLVED. THERE WERE 2 OPEN WHISKEY BOTTLES IN THE CAR. THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE STREET IS 30 MILES PER HOUR AND MOZLEY’S CAR WAS GOING AT LEAST 60 WHEN IT hit a parked vehicle…A house…some concrete steps…another home…and a utility pole. The S-U-V then went airborne and flipped Onto its roof. The vehicle did not have a driver's side window because of a previous incident. Mozley was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. Reed was also thrown out.

MOM’S MURDER TRIAL POSTPONED

 

Jury selection WAS TO BEGIN YESTERDAY IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY for the MURDER trial of MARIA BOYD WHO IS accused of killing her 6-week old son BACK IN 2010…BUT IT has been delayed AT THE REQUEST OF HER ATTORNEY. A pathologist’s report showed ANDREW BOYD DIED OF multiple internal injuries and HE HAD alcohol in his system.

 

INMATE GETS LIFE

 

A CAMBRIA COUNTY JUDGE YESTERDAY sentenced 22 YEAR OLD WILLIAM CRAMER to life WITHOUT PAROLE.

LAST MONTH, HE WAS found guilty of killing his cellmate in the Cambria County prison IN AUGUST OF 2012. WILLIAM SHERRY OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA WAS STRANGLED WITH A BEDSHEET, THEN Cramer TRIED TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A SUICIDE.

 

DRUG RAID IN CAMBRIA COUNTY

 

The Cambria County Drug Task Force ON MONDAY ROUNDED UP 23 low to mid-level drug dealers. TheY are suspected of distributing heroin, prescription pills, marijuana, crack cocaine, bath salts, and powder cocaine. 5 MORE SUSPECTS remain at large. WITH ONE SEARCH WARRANT, POLICE SEIZED 164 bags of crack cocaine with a street value of 4-THOUSAND DOLLARS…approximately 7-THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of high-grade marijuana…a small amount of heroin…and 25-HUNDRED DOLLARS IN CASH.

BLAIR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HELD ANOTHER BUDGET WORKSHOP YESTERDAY AND DECIDED TO BALANCE THE 2014 SPENDING PLAN WITH RESERVE FUNDS AND KEEP PROPERTY TAXES AT THE CURRENT LEVEL. COMMISSIONERS TELL THE ALTOONA MIRRA THAT IF EXPENSES KEEP OUTPACING REVENUE, THE COUNTY WILL BE FORCED INTO REASSESSMENT IN 3 TO 5 YEARS. COMMISSIONERS WILL FORMALLY INTRODUCED THE BUDGET NEXT TUESDAY AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC REVIEW.
