VEHICLES CRASHED INTO 2 BLAIR COUNTY BUsinesses THURSDAY. ABOUT 9AM, 34 YEAR OLD MISTY LINGEnFELTER STOPPED AT THE claysburg dollar general STORE, BUT DID NOT PUT HER pickup IN PARK…THEN HER FEET GOT TANGLED UP IN THE PEDALS. the front of the store SUSTAINED extensive damage. about 6 people WERE inSIDE, BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED.

3 HOURS LATER, NO ONE WAS INJURED WHEN AN ELDERLY MAN CRASHED HIS CAR INTO A BOOTH FULL OF PEOPLE AT THE SPRING HOUSE RESTAURANT IN ROARING SPRING. THE MAN’S LICENSE HAD BEEN REVOKED FOR MEDICAL REASONS. BOTH BUSINESSES WILL BE OPEN TODAY.

IN BLAIR COUNTY Court Thursday, A JUDGE SENTENCED 55 YEAR OLD JOHN MCANDREW OF DUNCANSVILLE TO UP TO 50 MONTHS IN PRISON AFTER HE PLEADED GUILTY TO CHARGES INCLUDING  HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE AND DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. IN APRIL OF 2010, MCANDREW’S S-U-V COLLIDED WITH A MOTORCYCLE ON KNOB RUN ROAD, KILLING THE BIKER, 32 YEAR OLD PHILLIP BOTTENFIELD JUNIOR. MCANDREW RAN HOME TO CALL 911. WHEN HIS BLOOD ALCOHOL WAS MEASURED 90 MINUTES AFTER THE WRECK, IT WAS STILL POINT-2 PERCENT. Bottenfield’s 41-year old sister, Lisa, SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES in a motorcycle CRASH EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING IN FRANKSTOWN TOWNSHIP.  police believe SHE WAS INTOXICATED. LISA Bottenfield was not wearing a helmet and did not HAVE a valid motorcycle license.

state police at huntingdon have charged 21 year old benjamin hoover of west newton with homicide by vehicle for an april crash in brady township. troopers say hoover was speeding and driving recklessly in the jack’s narrows area when he passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with a car driven by former mapleton mayor oran “butch” woodward who died at the scene. hoover was also hurt and flown to a regional hospital. his preliminary hearing is scheduled tuesday.

STATE POLICE IN INDIANA SAY 45 YEAR OLD JEFFREY PELLEGRINO OF Ebensburg CONFESSED TO robbing S & T BANK IN Armagh Tuesday…saYiNG he did it because he DIDN’T HAVE money to BUY FOOD FOR his kids. Pellegrino IS ALSO A SUSPECT IN WEDNESDAY’S HOLD UP AT First National Bank in Cresson. Pellegrino TOLD POLICE HE CONSIDERED SUICIDE, BUT COULDN’T GO THROUGH WITH IT.

johnstown man missing

Johnstown police are LOOKing for Richard Burggraf who has been missing since Tuesday. burggraf is a double amputee who rides in a chargeable wheelchair. HE SOMETIMES SHOWS symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. He was last seen at the Dollar Store in downtown Johnstown. Anyone with information SHOULD call 1-800-281-16-80.

woman embezzles $151,000

Altoona Police say 70 year old leona gebhart of hollidaysburg embezzled more than 151-thousand dollars while working for Henderson’s Printing Company. the money was taken over an 11 year period, but gebhart was the comptroller since 1964. She is free on unsecured bond with a preliminary hearing set for september 25th.

mayor hits the streets

altoona mayor bill shirf is planning to walk all over the city today and he estimates it will take 12 to 17 hours to cover all 26 neighborhoods. shirf is celebrating a report from city-rating-dot-com which says there has been an overall downward trend in crime in altoona over the past 12 years. for 2010, violent crime in the city was 10-point-4 percent lower than the national average and property crime was 30-point-3 percent lower. shirf will begin his walk at 7am from his house near memorial park in juniata.

same sex marriage ban

Commonwealth Court Judge Dan Pellegrini HAS ORDERED MONTGOMERY COUNTY REGISTER OF WILLS BRUCE HANES TO STOP issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, saying HE didn’t have the power to decide on his own whether the same-sex marriage ban violates the state constitution. Hanes issued 4 more licenses to same-sex couples on Wednesday, bringing the total number to 174.
