FATAL SHOOTING IN ALTOONA –
ALTOONA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A 16-YEAR-OLD BOY ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
THE SHOOTING HAPPENED AT 125 EAST 3RD AVENUE. NO NAMES HAVE BEEN RELEASED AND NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED. POLICE WERE ASSISTED BY AMED AND THE BLAIR COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE. POLICE WILL DETERMINE IF CHARGES WILL BE FILED WHEN THE INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE
WIND ADVISORIES IN EFFECT -
While many are digging their way out from under the season's first big snowstorm, forecasters say more of the white stuff is on the way. More than a foot of snow was recorded in some areas yesterday. Up to three inches is expected from a storm that is scheduled to arrive late tomorrow. Meanwhile, there is a wind advisory for Cambria, Somerset, Bedford and Blair Counties. There are wind gusts up to 50 mph expected.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE OUT ON THE ROADS PENNDOT SUGGESTS DRIVERS STAY HOME.

FINAL APPROVAL IS SET FOR TODAY FOR The city of Johnstown’s proposed 2013 budget. The 31.4 million DOLLAR SPENDING PLAN calls for no tax increase.
STATE WEBSITE MAKES BIDDING EASIER -
THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE VERIFICATION ACT GOES INTO EFFECT JANUARY 1ST. THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES HAS A NEW WEBSITE TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR CONTRACTORS TO BID ON PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS. THE ACT REQUIRES CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS WORKING ON PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS TO VERIFY THE EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY OF EACH NEW EMPLOYEE THROUGH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S E-VERIFY SYSTEM.
BIRD COUNT UNDERWAY –
Despite the snow, the annual Christmas Bird Count is underway. The National Audubon Society has been sponsoring the Count for 113 years, in an effort to survey avian populations for research purposes. The Pittsburgh Count began officially in 1961 and will be held this year on Saturday.
