Where: Richland Volunteer Fire Department

1321 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, PA 15905

Time(s):  Cornhole Tournament start time: 3:00pm

    Chili Cook-Off starts at 6:00-8:00pm

    Bands start at 8:00-12:30

Tickets:  Admission is $10 a person. Tickets are available at the door or in advance.  Presale starts August 1st and can be purchased at the Richland Volunteer Fire Department.


About the Event:

P.A.W.S. House, Inc. and The Richland Volunteer Fire Department have teamed up to hold the areas first annual CHILI-CON-CORNHOLE Event! This is a family friendly event and is a combined Chili Cook off and Cornhole tournament. Entertainment will be provided by four fantastic area bands, Train Stop 6, Pivot, Big Atlantic and YUM!  Area vendors, 50/50, food and adult beverages will also be available.  Demos will be held throughout the day!


Chili Cookoff Info:

All contestants are being asked to pre-prepare their chili and bring it in a 6 quart crock pot.  Small sampling containers will be provided to each contestant and they will be asked to serve their chili during contest hours.  


Contestant Rules & Registration: (limited availability)

  1. $30 dollar entry fee per chili. You may enter as many recipes as you like.  Entry fee includes price of event admission and a free event t-shirt.

  2. No store bought chili. In order to ensure this rule is being followed, you must submit a recipe for your chili to the board of directors in a sealed envelope. No one but the board will see your recipe.  Your recipe will remain in a sealed envelope and will not be opened unless your recipe is challenged by another contestant.

  3. Please name your chili and make a tent card to be displayed next to your entry. Be creative and have fun naming your chili, but please make it a family friendly.

  4. Please make your chili in a slow cooker, 6 quarts or more. You will be asked to serve your chili (6pm-8pm) in small cups which will be provided to you.  Your Chili will be sampled by the public, a panel of local celebrity judges, and the board of directors.

  5. There will be 3 cash prizes available. The celebrity panel will pick their favorite chili ($300), the public will pick the People’s Choice ($200), and the PAWS board of directors will pick the spiciest chili ($100).

  6. All decisions made by the judges are final.

  7. Deadline to sign up is Friday August 15th.  Number of contestant is limited so early sign up is suggested.

  8. Although PAWS is a pet related organization, you may not bring your pets to the event.

  9. This event will be held rain or shine and entry fees are non-refundable.

Celebrity Judges Pick - $300 Cash prize

People Choice - $200 Cash Prize

Spiciest Chili (to be chosen by the PAWS House board) - $100 Cash Prize


Vendor Information:

Pre-registration is required no later than August 15th, 2014.  Vendor fee is $50 per table and $25 for non-profits.  1 Table and 2 chairs will be provided by the Richland Fire Department.  This event will be held rain or shine.  It is suggested that you bring a tent if you have one.  Space is limited and is first come first serve.  To register contact Kellie Burgan at kburgan@pawshouse.org or Call 270-6550


Cornhole Tournament Information:

Starts at 3:00pm / $5 a person / $10 a Team.

No more than 20 Teams will be accepted.  

Prizes awarded will be:

First Place - A Custom Cornhole Board courtesy of: Cornhole Customs

Second Place – A $50 Gift Certificate to Chili’s

Third Place – A $25 Gift Certificate to Sheetz
