Meet this week’s Good Samaritan!
Luke Bonus of Fairhope
This week’s There’s No Place Like Home Good Samaritan is Luke Bonus of Fairhope. A 2013 graduate of Berlin-Brothersvalley, Luke has served his community in many different ways. In high school, he worked on multiple volunteer projects through the National Honor Society to raise money for cancer patients and children in need. A member of Missouri Synod Luthern Church in Fairhope, Luke is active with the youth group, bringing goodwill baskets to seniors and shut-ins and caroling during the holidays. Most weeks, you’ll find Luke at the Berlin Food Pantry, collecting and storing donations and helping to load cars. He also provides free car rides for the Amish families living nearby in need of transportation. In his little free time, Luke coaches his little sister’s basketball team of fifth and sixth graders. “A lot of older folks say that teenagers nowadays are selfish. But I like to give back to the community because I love to see smiling faces,” he says. “Even just a simple act can make somebody smile.” Luke will start attending Seton Hill University next month, majoring in mathematics and minoring in computer science.
